Team S.C. Competing In National Transplant Games
Let the Transplant Games begin! Team South Carolina is geared up for the games. Thirty-one organ transplant recipient athletes, 22 donor family members – along with their friends and supporters, including 15 donation professionals – will be Pittsburgh-bound this month. Organ recipients from South Carolina will compete against transplant recipients from throughout the U.S. in the July 11-15 athletic competition.
Sponsored by the National Kidney Foundation, the Games are open to anyone who has received a life-saving solid organ transplant – heart, liver, kidney, lung, and pancreas. Bone marrow recipients are also eligible to participate. The event calls attention to the success of organ and tissue transplantation and is sure to be an incredible celebration of life among all who attend.
